Sara joined Goldsmith Chambers after successful completion of her pupillage. She is developing a busy practice across Chambers’ main practice areas.

Sara is developing a reputation as a fearless advocate. She prides herself on providing sensible advice in her realistic and approachable manner. She is experienced in dealing with clients and witnesses with vulnerabilities.

Sara has experience dealing with expert evidence. She recently appeared as regular Counsel in the ‘Crime Scene Live Exhibition’ at the Natural History Museum, testing expert evidence on the voir dire in the context of a murder mystery.

Sara has completed the ICCA Vulnerable Witness Training.

Crime Barrister

Sara regularly appears in the Crown, Youth, and Magistrates’ Courts for both defence and prosecution. She has appeared on behalf of clients charged with a full spectrum of offences, including murder and other serious violent offences, fraud and money laundering matters, drug and sexual offences.

Sara is developing an expanding confiscation practice and has recently achieved favourable results.

Recent instructions include:

  • Defending a client in the Court of Appeal following an Attorney General’s Reference of her suspended sentence for GBH with Intent. Following my submissions, the Court of Appeal upheld her sentence as ‘not unduly lenient’.
  • Defending a client charged with multiple counts of Conspiracy to Cheat the Public Revenue in a multi-million pound alleged tax fraud.
  • Defending a client charged with Money Laundering alleged drugs money following his conviction for Possession with Intent to Supply Class A. Acquitted after trial.
  • Prosecuting a Defendant charged with Robbery on a taxi driver, where her defence included an allegation of sexual assault.

Notable Cases

  • AG v LM (Court of Appeal): Court of Appeal upheld suspended sentence order for s 18 OAPA where client had been convicted of attacking a young male with a weapon.
  • R v BW: Secured an acquittal for a client with six counts of fraud by false representation. Case was dismissed following a successful submission of no case to answer on all charges.
  • R v DB: Secured an acquittal on Assault PC charges following a two day trial in the Magistrates Court, in which evidence was given by six police officers and CCTV.
  • R v DH: Represented a client with significant mental health difficulties charged with a serious sexual offence at trial and sentence.
  • R v AJ: Represented a client charged with kidnap, false imprisonment, robbery and inflicting grevious bodily harm with intent with a positive assessment for dangerousness. After mitigation, secured a sentence of six years imprisonment.

Family Barrister

Sara is developing a family practice and accepts instructions in Chambers’ main practice areas. She has represented clients in the Magistrates’ Court, and County Court, including at the Appellate level.

Sara has recently been instructed by a Local Authority in care proceedings seeking a supervision order.

Before coming to the Bar, Sara worked as a legal assistant in the family department of a busy high street firm, dealing with private children and matrimonial finance matters. She has a good understanding of client care.
