Sarah has an extensive criminal practice, prosecuting and defending all manners of crime.

Sarah enjoys all aspects of oral and written advocacy and prides herself on her ability to convey legal advice in a practical way. Sarah also particularly enjoys legal argument. Sarah is able to “get a hold” on a case and is on hand to provide advice both in written format and more informally on the telephone, as required, to those that instruct her.

Sarah has a professional but friendly approach to her work and is able to adapt to the needs of her different lay clients; she strives to provide a first-rate service to those requiring representation.

Sarah approaches each of her cases with a fresh mind and is well able to utilise her cross-examination skills according to the nature of the witness at hand be they an expert or a child complainant and has been commended for her jury speeches.

Sarah has an eye for detail and is meticulous in her preparation.

Immediately prior to her life at the Bar, Sarah worked for a city-based firm of criminal defence and prison law solicitors where she was responsible for a full caseload of general crime matters, as well as dealing with high-profile fraud cases. Sarah therefore understands the pressures upon her professional clients and is always keen to work with them to assist with the smooth running of a case for the benefit of the lay client.

Crime Barrister

Sarah is a Level 3 prosecutor.

Sarah has conducted a vast range of cases covering dishonesty matters, sexual offences, violent offences and drugs matters. Sarah has also conducted confiscation proceedings, including those in Very High Costs Cases.

Sarah also undertakes prison law matters, namely parole hearings. This work compliments her criminal practice and vice versa.

Notable Cases

  • R v O: Defended rape case involving wife victim that raised issues of slavery and servitude.
  • R v B: Defended young defendant charged with aggravated burglary, which involved introducing bad character of the alleged victims.
  • R v H: Defended in multi-handed Class A drugs conspiracy trial and confiscation proceedings that followed.
  • R v T: Defended in multi-handed historic sex case involving vulnerable witnesses.
  • R v F: Defended in multi-handed conspiracy to burgle and steal; the case involved the targeting of properties and theft of high-value cars and evidence included ANPR, cellsite and surveillance.
  • R v M: Defended in multi-handed conspiracy to burgle and steal; case involved mass cell-site material.
  • R v T: Dealt with confiscation proceedings following large-scale cannabis factory prosecution; gave rise to issues of apportionment and third-party interests.
  • R v B: Defended in multi-handed complex VAT fraud.
  • R V L: Instructed to advise and represent appellant in relation to an appeal against sentence out of time by a number of years. Provided advice and represented client in Court of Appeal leading to quashing of IPP sentence.
