Animal Rights Barrister

Soraya has long been interested in Animal Rights. She is a member of ALAW – UK Centre for Animal Law and has been a moot Judge in Animal Law student moots at City University.   She has prosecuted actions on behalf of the RSPCA. Her Public Law practice has involved dealing with complex legal and factual issues, drafting legal arguments and advocating for the vulnerable such as through the mechanism of Judicial Review. In Civil Law and Family Law where domestic animals are regarded as chattels, she seeks a change in approach from looking at animals as having merely monetary value to a consideration of their welfare, in situations such as where a family is impacted by domestic abuse or facing homelessness.
