She has been nominated as an Inspiring Woman Lawyer, and a profile of her contribution to law will be added to a project website hosted by the Oxford Faculty of Law. The project aims to create an oral history of inspiring women lawyers which will be lodged in the Sound Archive of the British Library as a national resource.

She was one of just a small group of barristers across England and Wales to be selected for the inaugural Bar Council Leadership Programme 2020 – 2021, with a view to facilitating a powerful network of new leaders to drive forward a positive, open and inclusive culture across the Bar.

She regularly trains students, pupils and new practitioners, and is often invited to deliver lectures and appear as a guest speaker on webinars and podcasts relating to the law. She organises and chairs the Family Law Bar Association (“FLBA”) Autumn Lecture Series for the whole of the Family Bar.

She is a mentor for many barristers at different stages of their careers, including student barristers, pupils and those returning to the Bar after a leave of absence.

She was appointed as Master of the Bench of Gray’s Inn in July 2022.

Victoria is also a family mediator and the co-author of the England and Wales chapter in The Variegated Landscape of Mediation: a Comparative Study of Mediation Regulation and Practices in Europe and the World (Manon Schonewille and Dr Fred Schonewille [eds.], The Hague, Eleven International Publishing 2014).

She was the elected 2020 Chair of the Wellbeing at the Bar Working Group which carries out work on behalf of all barristers, clerks and staff in England and Wales. She is the Chair of the FLBA Wellbeing Subcommittee, in which role she organises seminars with psychologists, psychotherapists and members of the judiciary as guest speakers. Family Barrister

Victoria practises principally in financial remedy and private law children cases, including cases with international elements and those involving significant factual and legal complexity.

Notable Cases

  • W v W (2024): secured an excellent result for a client in complex, longstanding Children Act proceedings which involved exceptionally high levels of emotional abuse.
  • N v M (2023): a particularly unusual financial remedy case which required especially detailed advocacy and analysis in relation to the expert evidence on valuation and taxation issues.
  • A v A (2022): Children Act proceedings in which Victoria’s cross-examination led to the court making findings that there had been marital rape, and that one of the incidents of rape had resulted in the conception of the subject child.
  • B v B (2022): Victoria achieved an exceptional result for the client in financial remedy proceedings involving inherited property and multi-million-pound companies in the post-Covid and post-Brexit landscape.
  • Y v M (2021): a successful and notable case involving a child with very complex needs and the Article 6 rights of a parent who sought to challenge the psychiatric recommendation that they did not have the capacity to conduct proceedings.
  • B v B & B (2020): complex private child law proceedings involving child abduction, deception as to maternity, and the resumption of pre-abduction familial relationships in the face of implacable hostility. Victoria secured the reunification of a parent with their abducted child.
  • D v G (2019): an excellent outcome representing a spouse in a financial remedy case involving financial misconduct, various companies and the transfer of substantial shareholdings.
  • L v P & P (2019): cross-applications to vary a child arrangements order concerning a child with serious health issues. Achieved a change in residence for the client.
  • M v P & M (2018): represented a grandparent in their last-resort application for a child arrangements order and succeeded in re-establishing their relationship with their grandchildren.
  • M v M (2018): represented a parent in a long fact-finding hearing and their serious allegations of extreme domestic abuse were found proved in their entirety.
  • P v P (2017): financial remedy proceedings in which Victoria’s cross-examination resulted in a spouse admitting that they had lied about being a bigamist.
  • B v T (2015): obtained extensive contact for a parent in circumstances where the child’s medical condition and numerous allegations were cited as reasons for there being no contact at all.
  • L v L (2011): financial remedy proceedings with conduct issues and an international element where 100% of the assets were awarded to Victoria’s client at the final hearing.
  • S v S & M (2009): obtained a declaration of parentage for the mother where the father had died before the child was born, and his family did not know of the mother’s existence.
  • Re B (Residence Order) [2007] All ER (D) 280 (Feb) FD (Hogg J): successfully opposed the father’s appeal against the making of a residence order.
