We are looking for a personal assistant to Anthony Metzer QC. The role, which is primarily similar to that of a pupil, consists principally of legal research, assisting with case preparation including legal drafting, and some other tasks falling outside litigation work such as preparation for seminars and conferences. You will also be expected occasionally to assist from time to time with other administrative and organisational tasks.
It is a part-time role with flexible hours, and an excellent opportunity for those who seek pupillage.
Some prior legal work experience would be preferred, regardless of the area of law.

Junior Civil Clerk
Salary: Up to £25,000 per annum
Goldsmith Chambers is a large and well-established set of Chambers within Middle Temple with a reputation for providing first class representation for those seeking advice and representation in the civil court. Members of chambers’ practices range widely within the general description of civil law. We act for solicitors and also for individuals under the Public Access scheme.
Chambers is now seeking to recruit a Junior Civil Clerk to support the Senior Civil Clerk.
The duties of the role include diary management, agreeing barristers’ fees and dealing with the issues that arise when acting as the “front line” when dealing with clients and providing a service to the members of chambers. You will need to have an excellent telephone manner, a good grasp of written English and a familiarity with word processing. In addition to normal clerking duties you will assist the Senior Clerk in the management and organisation of Chambers’ promotional events and marketing of the Civil team including the use of social media. You may be expected to attend events outside of normal business hours.
Chambers uses the BarSquared LEX Fees system. Although previous experience with this would be an advantage it is not an essential requirement as training will be given.
Candidates should have initiative and drive, as well as the ability to work as part of a team. Experience as a barrister’s clerk is preferable but not essential. Relevant work experience and transferrable skills are important as are suitable personal characteristics.
The salary range is up to £25,000 (which will be offered according to experience). 20 days holiday, and an interest free travel loan will be offered upon successful completion of probationary period.
