Defendant acquitted in fraud / theft trial at Southwark Crown Court

News

The Defendant, G, second on the Indictment and the partner of the first Defendant, was represented by Meyrick Williams in a 5 week Trial at Southwark Crown Court. She was one of four accused of a Fraud/Theft/Handling of hundreds of thousands of pounds of clothing from a major UK and international fashion chain. Part of the case concerned the persistent challenging of the value of items said to be handled by her based upon internal reports and accounts. After a 5 week trial she was acquitted with a note from the Jury advising the Judge that they considered that the value of the relevant clothing was “grossly exaggerated by the Prosecution”. Meyrick has a long history of defending in Fraud and Jury Trials and this is another successful outcome in long running or complex matters.
