FORWARD invite Charlotte Proudman to support the UK Launch of European Knowledge Platform for Professionals Dealing with Female Genital Mutilation

Women’s rights NGO FORWARD invited barrister Charlotte Proudman to speak at the launch of the United to END FGM (UEFGM) European Knowledge Platform on 24 April 2017 at Garden Court Chambers, London. Charlotte shared her knowledge and experience of dealing with FGM asylum cases and female genital mutilation (FGM) Protection Orders in family courts.

Goldsmith Chambers are delighted to learn of the Platform, which is free-of-charge, available online and offers information and practical advice to professionals on FGM. The knowledge platform includes:

  1. an e-learning course of 13 modules available in 9 languages.
  2. country specific information covering 11 EU member states.
  3. ‘live knowledge’ including webinars and an online discussion forum.

The e-learning course is designed to raise awareness of and improve knowledge about FGM amongst professionals from diverse sectors including: Health, Asylum, Law and Justice, Law Enforcement/Police, Education, Social and Child Protection, and the Media. The online course will also be available to NGOs, including women’s organisations and shelters offering support and protection to women and girls affected by FGM.
