Meyrick Williams wins Money Laundering Confiscation in Newcastle

News

Havimg entered a plea in respect of breaches of the Money Laundering regulations, Meyrick knocked out the prosecution case against the Defendant based on legal argument alone, despite the allegations that the offending behaviour had been going on for years. The defendant’s own offending was argued in fact to only have lasted a short time and therefore the lifestyle Confiscation regime under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 was not triggered. Faced with the argument in full, the Prosecution withdrew what was intended to be a lengthy and complicated Confiscation against the Defendant.
