Juliann Manson

Juliann was called to the Bar in 1985. Juliann initially specialised in Crime and Licensing but accepted Family cases from 1991. Since around 2000 she has specialised in Family cases.

Criminal practice included a very wide range of matters from traffic matters to murder and everything else in between at all levels of Court. In the last 10 years Juliann has specialised in matters involving sexual offences against adults and children and serious Fraud.

Family cases have included applications for financial relief in cases of varying complexity and value; some very low and others where properties and other assets abroad are a significant feature.

Juliann also conducts cases involving disputes as to with whom children should live and time to be spent with the non-resident parent.

Juliann has very extensive experience of domestic violence matters including risk of FGM to girls and babies.

Juliann accepts cases on a direct access basis in appropriate cases.

Notable cases:

Re K – Matter involving child said to be living within a religious ‘cult’.

R v Hobbs & others – Court of Appeal decision regarding the appropriate sentencing regime in a case involving people trafficking.

Re A – High Court decision regarding the ambit of an exclusion zone following release of sexually abusive family member who had abused three generations of his family being released from custody after 28 years.

P v P – Application by Wife to exclude seven members of Husbands family from matrimonial home after he left to remarry.
