Charlotte joined Chambers after successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Jerry Hayes and Grace Ong.  Charlotte regularly appears in the Crown Court, Magistrates’ Court and Youth Court.  Charlotte has also successfully appeared in the Court of Appeal in an appeal against sentence.

Charlotte prosecutes and defends in Criminal matters.  Charlotte is appointed to the Crown Prosecution Service Advocate Panel, Grade 1.  She also happily accepts instructions in Immigration, Family and Civil law matters.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Charlotte worked in the charity sector for a number of years.  She provided advice on criminal justice and civil law matters to veterans and individuals with serious mental health conditions.  Charlotte represented clients in the First and Upper Tier Social Security Tribunal, Best Interests Mental Capacity Act meetings, homelessness appeals and Continuing Healthcare hearings before NHS England.  She has also supported clients at Mental Health Act appeals.

Charlotte has a keen interest in vulnerable defendants in the criminal justice system.  She was awarded substantial funding to research therapeutic jurisprudence and problem-solving courts in the USA by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.  As a result of her research, Charlotte was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Charlotte has a Masters in European Law from the University of Leiden, the Netherlands where she focused on human rights and EU law (including competition law and rules pertaining to the internal market).  Whilst in the Netherlands, Charlotte also completed an internship at Eurojust, the Hague.  Following successful completion of her Masters, Charlotte worked in public affairs in Brussels.  Charlotte also has a Masters in Industrial Relations from the University of Warwick and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Professional Developers.

Charlotte volunteered for a number of years with the South Westminster Legal Advice Centre, the Free Representation Unit and the National Centre for Domestic Violence.  Charlotte currently volunteers for Bail for Immigration Detainees.
