Terms & Conditions

Fees for work undertaken by counsel are invoiced by way of fee note. They are payable within 28 days of despatch of the fee note.

Administration queries in relation to payment of fees and all other queries about fees for work done, including the amount of fees, should be directed to our billings team.

Except in publicly funded graduated fee work, fees are negotiated on a case by case basis depending upon the amount of work involved and the experience of counsel. Our diary clerks will gladly provide fee estimates and guideline hourly rates for different counsel. We are happy to negotiate protocols with professional clients for management of bulk work.

We have standard forms and terms of business for conditional fee agreements.

Criminal defence work under the Advocacy Graduated Fee Scheme is conducted in accordance with the Graduated Fee Payment Protocol published by the Bar Council.

Unless otherwise stated in writing all work is conducted under the Terms of Work on which Barristers Offer Their Services to Solicitors and the Withdrawal of Credit Scheme 1988 (Annexe G1 to the Code of Conduct of the Bar of England & Wales). We reserve the right to charge interest on fees which are outstanding for more than 28 days.
