Before coming to the Bar, Ian gained a variety of experience whilst working for a Personal Injury firm in Leeds and a Criminal Law firm in London who specialise in the defence of sexual allegations.
For the three years prior to joining Goldsmith Chambers, Ian was the in-house advocate for a large national advocacy service provider. During this time, Ian successfully represented clients in County Court hearings throughout the UK in matters such as Housing possession, Bankruptcy Proceedings, Infant Settlements, Return of Goods, Road Traffic Accidents, Debt Recovery and Flight Delay Compensation Claims. Ian also became the Head of the Landlord and Tenant Litigation Department and a member of the Advocate Training Team.
Ian is an experienced lecturer who has provided training on the Housing and Planning Act 2016, the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, the Deregulation Act 2015, Advocacy Skills and the Housing (Wales) Act 2016. Ian was elected as the Middle Temple Student Representative whilst completing the Bar Professional Training Course and he has volunteered with a number of legal organisations, including the University of York Law Clinic, the BPP Streetlaw Programme and the BPP Mock trials division.
