Leanne specialises in criminal law and has a busy practice both prosecuting and defending. She appears in both the Crown and magistrates’ court in both adult and youth cases.
Prior to pupillage her legal work experience included interning at Pulaski County Public Defenders Office on death penalty cases, managing the Hertfordshire Witness Service and working at the British Transport Police as a Witness and Case Review Officer, specialising in sexual offences. Her pro bono experience includes working with a variety of advice centres on public legal education initiatives, a caseworker for Advocate and an ambassador for Amicus.
Leanne read Law at the University of Warwick, where she won the Bar Society’s Bar Advocacy Competition. She was project leader for the Warwick Death Penalty Programme and established CLAW (Critical Lawyers at Warwick). She then studied for the Bar at the University of Law, having been awarded an exhibition scholarship by the Inner Temple. Leanne obtained a distinction in her LLM, which concerned making expert evidence mandatory in rape trials in order to reduce the influence of misconceptions surrounding rape.
In her spare time, Leanne is committed to improving accessibility to the Bar and is a Bridging the Bar mentor.
Leanne accepts instructions in all areas of criminal law, with a particular interest in sexual offences.
