Crime Barrister

David is regularly instructed to both defend and prosecute in the Crown Court, Magistrates’ Court and Youth Court. He has experience dealing with a broad range of offences such as violent offences, including in a domestic context, drugs offences and possession of offensive weapons. He also takes instructions in the full range of driving matters, including drink and drug driving charges and advancing exceptional hardship arguments for those faced with disqualification.

Immigration Barrister

David has a growing immigration practice in addition to his work in general crime. Committed to improving access to justice, he regularly accepts pro bono instructions on behalf of Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID).

David has experience assisting with complex nationality cases, including the Right of Abode in the UK and has a good understanding of the EU Settlement Scheme, having previously provided pro bono advice for clients at the AIRE centre. He has a keen interest in the cross-over between immigration and extradition law and recently contributed to a wide-ranging review of proposals for using sanctions and terrorist financing legislation to fund reparations for victims of sexual violence in conflict.

Prior to coming to the Bar, David worked as a research paralegal as part of the public law team at Herbert Smith Freehills. He has a master’s degree in European Law from the College of Europe in Bruges, where he focussed particularly on free movement and human rights.

Extradition Barrister

David is keen to develop a practice in extradition law, an area of law on which he focussed his study whilst at the College of Europe in Bruges, particularly in relation to the European Arrest Warrant and other European cross-border cooperation.
