Eric Lewis practices in the areas of international litigation and arbitration, serious fraud, banking, international insolvency and complex securities litigation. He has worked closely with the English bar for more than thirty years, serving as US or coordinating counsel in such matters as the liquidations of Bank of Credit and Commerce International, Laker Airways, Polly Peck and Madoff International. He served as Global Legal Coordinator in a multinational dispute arising from the largest fraud in the history of the Middle East. He has also represented clients, including one of the largest UK pension funds, in major class action litigation, including Enron, WorldCom and Visa/MasterCard. He advises and litigates on behalf of international banks and their owners facing regulatory challenges in the United States, the UK banking resolution entity as well as hedge funds and large family-owned Middle East conglomerates. He frequently works with English counsel in obtaining evidence for use in the English courts and with respect to asset tracing and enforcement of judgments.
Eric has advised major international clients in the automobile, energy, aviation, hospitality and beverage industries. He also represents a number of sovereign governments. He has served as an expert in the English courts on extradition. He is a Director of Independent Digital Media Limited.
Eric has also lectured on human rights issues at Oxford University and holds an M.Phil. from the University Cambridge, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.
