Niamh has prior experience as an OISC caseworker, in various immigration matters including family and private life, EU Settlement Scheme, the points-based system, and pre-action work in judicial review claims against the Home Office. She has expertise in the Ukraine visa schemes and asylum support issues from previous pro bono work in these areas.
Niamh is dedicated to pursuing fairness in the immigration and asylum system. She previously worked at the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA), a registered charity which advocates for improvements to immigration, asylum, and nationality laws and policies. She co-ordinated the Strategic Legal Advice Committee and has a keen interest in public law challenges.
Niamh is a contributor to the Free Movement blog and was a tutor in the AstenJ 2025 Immigration Law Update Webinar.
Family
Niamh is available for instructions in family law matters involving children. In the private sphere, she has experience in applications for injunctions and enforcement, and all types of hearings in child arrangement disputes, including in cases with cross-allegations of domestic abuse. In public law, she has experience of care proceedings involving vulnerable parties. Niamh is particularly well-equipped to deal with family cases which have an immigration element.
Civil
Niamh has experience in civil litigation, such as housing possession disputes. She is particularly interested in areas which overlap with her interests in state accountability – her experience includes cases challenging civil penalty notices issued by the Home Office and actions against the police.
