Niamh accepts instructions in immigration, family, and housing law. The common thread of her practice is her commitment to empowering people facing social injustice. She is equipped to deal with matters which require multi-disciplinary expertise.
Niamh’s immigration practice covers the full breadth of work, including:
- Asylum, family reunion, private life, and long residence appeals in the First-tier and Upper Tribunal;
- Immigration bail applications;
- Administrative review challenges to PBS refusals;
- Judicial review challenges to certification, removal, visit visa refusals, and cancellation notices;
- Civil claims in appeals to Home Office penalties;
- Asylum support matters.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Niamh worked in the third sector on immigration policy, volunteered in asylum support casework, and prior to that was an OISC adviser. She has an excellent grasp of the policy landscape in this area, as well as the scope for strategic legal work. She delivers training in immigration law for AstenJ and is a contributor to the legal blog Free Movement.
Niamh’s family practice encompasses private children matters and Family Law Act applications. She regularly represents survivors of domestic abuse, clients with mental health difficulties, and clients who are neurodivergent. She welcomes instructions in care proceedings as her practice grows, having had experience of this area during pupillage.
In housing, Niamh is experienced in possession disputes and disrepair claims, for both tenants and landlords, and would like to expand her practice into homelessness appeals.
Those who work with Niamh commend her hard-working attitude, calmness under pressure, and ability to communicate with vulnerable clients.
Alongside her work, Niamh mentors aspiring barristers from underrepresented backgrounds. She is passionate about social mobility and believes the Bar should represent the communities it serves.
