Goldsmith has been ranked as one of the UK’s highest performing Chambers in the ‘Chambers and Partners UK Bar Guide 2016’. The ‘legal bible’ celebrates the work of five individual members within their respective fields (Crime, International Crime, Financial Crime, Police Law and Sports Law) as well as recognising Goldsmith Chambers as one of the country’s choicest Criminal sets.

The ‘Chambers and Partners’ team of more than 140 researchers carried out a detailed assessment of the members’ work to date and held interviews with clients and other lawyers. They found the work of Anthony Metzer QC, Sir Desmond de Silva QC, Simon Baker, Jonathan Crystal and Paul Mylvaganam to be exceptional and have ranked them accordingly.

Anthony Metzer QC

Head of Chambers and leading Civil and Criminal Lawyer Anthony Metzer QC was ranked both for his Crime (Band 3) and Police Law (Band 2) practice. He is described as ‘fantastic’, ‘excellent with clients’ with ‘impressive advocacy skills’ and ‘a nice jury manner’.

Sir Desmond de Silva QC

Was described as ‘extremely capable from the legal point of view, incredibly user-friendly and extremely good to work with’, was recognised in the publication’s ‘spotlight table’ for his International Criminal practice and ranked Band 6 for his Crime work. The ‘Chambers & Partners’ guide also noted his ‘ability to assist with significant inquiries into international criminal law matters that generate significant amounts of interest’ and reported praise for ‘his collaborative approach and his ability to handle media coverage of high-profile matters.’

Simon Baker

One of the UK’s leading money laundering, market abuse and corruption barristers, was ranked both for his Financial Crime (Band 2) and Crime (Band 3) practises. He is described as ‘Very able and bright’ with ‘a phenomenal memory’.

Jonathan Crystal

Was ranked an impressive Band 2 for his outstanding Sports Law practice. Mr Crystal, who has represented a number of high-profile sports stars in sports including Formula 1, boxing and cricket, is described as commanding ‘a huge amount of loyalty’, ‘his knowledge is respected’.

Paul Mylvaganam

Was also ranked (Band 3) for his Crime work.
