Brenda Efurhievwe assists Ethiopian client in securing Humanitarian Protection

News

Brenda Efurhievwe represented an Ethiopian asylum seeker in an asylum appeal.

The appeal hearing was adjourned due to technical difficulties experienced by the interpreter attending via CVP. However, Brenda’s legal and factual submissions resulted in the FTT Judge directing the Secretary of State for the Home Department to review her decision to refuse refugee status and humanitarian protection. Relying on her Country Schedule and the Appellant’s further evidence, Brenda also made representations regarding to the humanitarian situation in Ethiopia and drew the Senior Presenting Officer’s attention to their implication on the accepted facts of her client’s case.

Following the adjourned hearing, the SSHD withdrew her refusal decision and granted the Appellant humanitarian protection.

Brenda was instructed by Pius Dakora of BHD Solicitors. Brenda Efurhievwe is a member of the Immigration and Public Law team and accepts instructions in cases concerning immigration and asylum, and related public and civil law claims.
