Nationality & Immigration Bill

Articles

On 6th July 2021, the Government published its Nationality and Immigration Bill.

To assist practitioners to navigate the nationality law proposals and when the government was consulting, Emma Harris, a senior practitioner in the immigration and public law team published her article ‘New Plan for Immigration: the proposed changes to nationality law’ with Free Movement.

Emma explains in her article that many of the proposals in this area are welcome, particularly those affecting British Overseas Territories Citizens and the Windrush Generation. Some others however are far more troubling. Of particular concern is the proposal to introduce new and more onerous requirements for children born in the UK as stateless to register as British citizens.
