Anthony Metzer QC and Dr Charlotte Proudman represented the mother in an appeal brought by the Metropolitan Police Service. The mother supported the appeal, which was successful. Mr Metzer QC and Dr Proudman were instructed by Dawson Cornwell.
The Court of Appeal, Civil Division, allowed the appeal of the Metropolitan Police from an injunction made by the High Court under its inherent jurisdiction. The court held that the injunction impermissibly interfered with an operational decision made by the MPS regarding the scope and manner of a criminal investigation to be conducted into the circumstances of the case.
